SOLITUDE BALLAD
By Maria Kimdal
Silence whispers my ballads at twilight
and Longing spins songs at night
Sun and moon weave days and years together
to an enigmatic web outside my window
Boats of Dreams sail over the ocean
brought away by the Waves of Hope
Bridge of Faith carries across the abyss
and far beyond Time and Space
When will my eyes be appeased by the sight
of the beautiful vision of Devotees?
When will my feet dance in delight
at the sound of my Master's voice?
When will my tongue in devotional association
taste the sweetness of Prasadam?
When will my ears rejoice at music
of mantras, mrdanga and kartals?
Silence at twilight play loudly my ballad
sing loudly my song, you Longing!
Let it be heard widely spread
to burst the prison of Solitude!
Bring my dreams to their harbour, you waves!
You bridge, carry my prayers home!
Take me to my Master's lotus feet
and close to his dear devotees!
It is there where I belong and there I want to be
in Time and Space and beyond it
A tiny little thread in the Divine web
outside my open window.
