GAURANGA

By Maria Kimdal

Yet before I could see,
yet before I could understand the signs,
yet before the words bathed
in the light of elucidation…

While night was still reaching out
for the first beams of dawn
- in my dreams You played
the songs of eternity.

Over cheerless land
Your messengers wander
with Your Names dancing
on their lips,
for liberation of the fettered soul.

Assurance in their steps,
clearness in their trace
and joy-ballads rising
from the tundra of melancholy.

The flower that slept
under millenniums of glacier,
was brought to life
under the full moon's purity
in Your smile.

Let this newborn flower
grow in its simplicity
for one day to join
the fragrant garland
around the neck
of Your pure Devotee.
